Private 8-Day Tour in Iran
I had an exceptional short trip to Iran in September 2017 with Uppersia. I was fortunate to get Seyed Ali Mohammad Hosseini as my travel guide / partner for this trip. The two of us spent 2 days in Shiraz, 2 days in Esfahan, and 4 days in Tehran. There was a structured itinerary to hit the main points each day, but because it was just us 2 we were able to have flexibility and add several other items. Prices change throughout the year but for reference I paid $2700 for my trip including 8 nights hotel, transportation, entrance fees to sites, and the guide. I also paid $850 round trip from San Francisco to Tehran. I paid for lunch and dinner for myself, and some shopping.
As an American, I was treated very well by everyone we met. I was surprised by the hospitality and graciousness displayed by everyone. I never felt unsafe, except when riding in cabs flying around the streets of Tehran. There are few tourists as this country is still new to many travelers. You really have the experience of being with the local people and not trapped in a tourist infrastructure that tells you what to do and what to see.
This trip included a lot of walking and Iran is not disabled friendly. It was hot the first week of September, but every hotel had good air conditioning. Americans can't travel without a guide and approved itinerary, but Ali made the country come alive in a way that I wouldn't have experienced if I traveled alone.
Now that I have been, I am considering another trip with Uppersia to see other parts of Iran that I missed.
