My wife and I (both Americans) arranged a private 13-night tour of Iran with Uppersia in Shiraz.  We developed our own itinerary and selected our own accommodations which  were fine with Uppersia.  The entire tour went just as we had planned and the only problem was delays in receiving responses to our email messages in the month before our departure.  Once we were given the name of our guide, we had no problems communicating with him by email.   As Americans, we were required to have both a driver and guide arranged by Uppersia.  Our guide was Seyed Ali Mohammad Hosseini about whom others have made very favorable comments.  Seyed is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, personable and candid in his answers and comments on all subjects.  He contributed immeasurably to our enjoyment of the tour and we believe we developed a real friendship over the two weeks.  We recommend him highly.  Of the fifty or so trips abroad we have taken, our tour of Iran was easily the most interesting and revealing.  As elsewhere in the Middle East, the Iranian people are incredibly welcoming and, in our case,  were particularly   surprised and happy to meet and speak with Americans.

I have traveled around Iran as part of the charity motor race Mongol Rally, where Uppersia helped us with all formalities ang. Own car and travel in Iran. I was in the unfortunate situation of losing my passport a few days before I was going to Iran, but thanks to Uppersia I managed to enter the country without an invitation or authorization code. I thought that my whole holiday was lost, but still got six good days in Iran. Which I am happy. Had the pleasure of tour guide Ali Hosseini, who was sweet and full throughout. I would definitely recommend this tourist bureau at all.

UpPersia were absolutely amazing! All the pre-planning was well organized and communication was timely and on point. We very rarely take tours but had too since we were traveling on US passports. We had nothing to worry about though since our guide Ali made it feel like we were traveling with a really great friend! Ali was laid back and extremely informative. He made sure that everything ran smoothly but always made sure we had lots of free time and wasn't crowding us. Hanging out with his family in Shiraz was one of the highlights of the trip. We did the three week backpacker trip and although in hind sight we would have changed the itinerary a little bit, the whole trip was thrilling and full of interest. Our highlights were Shiraz, Yazd, Ateshooni GH in Garmeh, Persepolis, Zeinoddin caravanserai, and Rayen. Tabriz and Mashhad were certainly interesting but we were not so keen! It would have been nice to trek in Golestan or in the Assassin's castles. Overall though...great trip!

I provided direct private feedback soon after the tour to Reza in relation to a tour in September/October 2015. This belated public feedback is to acknowledge the role played by our Uppersia guide, Seyed Ali Mohammad Hosseini. Ali was an excellent guide with great love for Shiraz, Persepolis and Iran. If you are fortunate to have Ali as a guide he will take you to the special places (that often had a lot to do with food!!!). He provided special picnics on the bus (more food and more thanks to Ali's mother). He was a wonderful 'face' to Iran. Thank you Ali.

Long a country I wanted to visit, I finally did this last year. My routing was Tehran-Mashhad-Isfahan-Shiraz-Tehran, and because I really wanted to see the country, I chose to do as much as possible with ground transportation. Two overnight trains were quite an experience...comfortable bunks, and the rare opportunity to engage with ordinary people. The team at Uppersia were great- organizing everything smoothly in accordance with my budget and the things I wanted to do. The visa process, complicated though it is, was handled entirely by them getting the necessary approvals. In an environment where (for UK citizens) independent travel is not permitted, I had to be accompanied by a guide at all times...this not a bad thing when the guide is a great guy (Ali Hosseini) with fluent english and is as flexible as the regulations allow. I highly recommend Uppersia if you plan to travel to Iran

Persepolis is one of the best preserved ancient Near Eastern sites that you can visit. It is an easy drive from Shiraz and taxis or tours will take you there. Early morning or late afternoon are the best times to visit to avoid the heat and the crowds. Be sure to have a good guide book or hire a knowledgeable guide. It will make the experience much better and Iran has great guides like Seyed Ali Mohammad Hosseini of Uppersia tours in Shiraz who studied under the late Dr. A. Shapur Shahbazi of the University of Shiraz who was responsible for the archaeology at Persepolis until his death.
